Growing online slots drive Lithuania's gaming income to €116m in H1.

With a strong online performance cushioning a drop in land-based income, gambling revenue in Lithuania grew 12.6% year-on-year to €116.0m (£99.3m/$126.7m) in H1.

Figures from the Lithuania Gaming Control Authority show that H1 income exceeded the €108.5m recorded in the same period previous year.

Beginning with the internet market, channel income rose 12.5% year-on-year to €72.2m. Spending by players climbed 8.7% to €1.05 billion, earning $973.1m along the way.

Slots are dominant in Lithuania's online gaming industry Category Clearly the highlight of the presentation in H1 was an online slot game with limitless winnings. More than any other section across Lithuania's land-based and internet markets, these slots brought in €53.5m in income. Up 6.2%, player expenditure on these machines also reach a market-high of €627.7m.

Revenue was level at €1.8m in H1 for Category B online slots, with maximum stakes of LTL1 (€0.3) and wins limited to 200 times customer bets. Online table game income also rose 11.7% year-on-year to €6.7m.

With player wagers up 2.4% to €289.0m, sports betting income nudged up 1.6% to €19.3m during H1.

The land-based market contracts in H1.
Turning now to the land-based market, overall income in this sector dropped 4.4% to €34.7m. Player stakes dropped 5.6% to €217.8m, so the fall happened.

With revenue of €14.4m, Category B slot machines were the most sold product in retail marketplaces; their popularity dropped 6.5%. Player bets on these machines dropped 6.5% to €92.1m.

Regarding Category A slots, staking edging up 4.7% to €31.8m, income was 5.3% higher year-on- year at €7.9m.

Revenue from sports betting plummeted 6.4% to €4.4m and from table games dropped 9.1% to €8.0m.

Positive Lottery Period in Lithuania
Apart from the principal numbers, the Lithuania Gaming Control Authority also released information on lotteries. Lotteries earned gross gaming income of €32.7m for the first half, a 6.2% increase.  

At €70.9m, ticket sales were 4.0% higher year-on- year; overall ticket sales up 1.1% to 50.4 million. Player wins climbed 2.3% to €38.1 million. 

From this variety of gaming activities across all media, the sector brought in €37.6m in taxes. Of this overall €24.1m came from lottery suppliers and gaming companies.
