Löwen Entertainment by Novomatic highlights Foethke in a pivotal role.

At Novomial's Löwen Entertainment, Sebastian Foethke is the new management representative for policy and regulation.

After his appointment, Foethke will be in charge of advocating the interests of the gaming provider in the political and legal domains.

He will answer to managing director of communications and compliance for German corporation Daniel Henzgen.

The hiring adds to Foethke's considerable public affairs team expertise with Löwen Entertainment. Having worked in the transport and logistics industries before, he started working for the company in 2017.

Foethke was appointed the German Online Casino Association ( DOCV) new vice-president in May. In the role he represents Löwen Entertainment subsidiary Novo Interactive.

Regulatory obstacles
Henzgen, also Novo Interactive managing director, adds "We are facing major regulatory challenges in our industry."

Another very vocal critic of the German State Treaty on Gambling was Löwen Entertainment. The deal was first presented somewhat over two years ago.

Operators and suppliers in the gaming industry meanwhile deal with a changing legal environment in Germany.

The Higher Administrative Court of the State of Saxony-Anhalt decided last month that Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL), the German gambling regulator, indeed has authority to enforce advertising limits.

Additionally under constant struggle is the GGL trying to eradicate a flourishing black market in the nation. The most current GGL data shows 207 unlicensed operations nationwide as of December 2022.
