September Pennsylvania market growth is driven by record igaming income.

September's gambling income in Pennsylvania rose 6.2% year-on-year to $476.3m, largely in line with record igaming income during that month.

September's total income exceeded that of last year's $448.5 million in the same month. The result also exceeded the $ 457.2m produced in Pennsylvania in August of this year by 4.2%.

With a revenue share of $199.9m, up 0.7% from last year, retail slots remain some distance out in front. Physical table games brought in another $75.2 million, however this was 7.8% less than September 2022.

In September, the igaming part recorded the most notable increase. Rising 41.5% to $159.5m, revenue exceeded the previous record of $148.2m established in March to become the all-time high for the state.

Online table game revenue rose 31.7% to $42.4m while online slot income climbed 47.3% to $114.7m. But income from online poker dropped 10.4% to $2.4 million.

With $64.9m in igaming revenue in September, Hollywood Casino at Penn National is still the obvious market leader. With $35.4 million Valley Forge Casino Resort was once more second; Rivers Casino Philadelphia came third with $29.2 million.

Pennsylvania sports betting income is falling in September.
Pennsylvania, on the other hand, revealed even more losses in its sports betting sector. While volume climbed 12.6% to $726.3m, revenue for this segment declined 27.1% year-on-year to $36.6m.

After falling to second in August, Valley Forge and FanDuel recovered top place in the market. The alliance reported $19.1 million in income from $256.4 million in total September bets.

With revenue of $8.6m off a $230.5m handle, Hollywood Casino at the Meadows and Barstool ranked second in August. Third with $2.2m in revenue from $22.6m in wagers Parx Casino teamed with Kambi.

Regarding other Pennsylvania gambling, video gaming terminal income dropped 7.2% to $3.2 million. Fantasy sports income also dropped 6.6% to $1.8 million; DraftKings led the category with $1.3 million in income.

Operators fined for violating rules
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has meanwhile fined operators for violating state laws. Three operators in the state were fined $73,075 overall.

Operator of Live! Casino Pittsburgh, Stadium Casino Westmoreland, paid a $30,000 fine This comprised a $20,000 fine for letting two self-excluded people visit and bet at its casino.

Permission of underage gaming at the casino resulted in another $10,000 penalties. The person had access to the gaming floor and could play slot machines.

Elsewhere, Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores paid $25,000 fines for failing to notify the PGCB on ownership structure changes at five of its VGT Truck Stop Establishment sites.

Furthermore, after a delay in submitting two licence renewal applications, the PGCB approved Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, operator of Parx Casino. The operator has been told to pay $18,075.

Pennsylvania licencing renewal for Rivers Casino Philadelphia
Also in Pennsylvania, the PGCB approved overwhelmingly to extend the Category 2 stand-alone casino licence of Rivers Casino Philadelphia operator Sugarhouse HSP Gaming. The licence has been extended five more years.

Rivers Casino Philadelphia opened in September 2010 and has brought in $4.47 billion in gross income. Apart from sports wagering and igaming, the facility provides retail slot machines and table games. As a result, the state now gathers more than $1.94 billion in tax money.
